The Missing Mint.

How The Missing Mint works

We're not a finder, a recovery service, or a bank. We're a search engine for public state unclaimed-property records — with the instructions to claim your money for free.

  1. 1
    You search by name

Just first and last name. No SSN, no bank login, no signup. We don't store your search.

  2. 2
    We query every available source

All 50 state databases plus IRS undelivered refunds, PBGC orphan pensions, FDIC failed-bank deposits, Treasury matured bonds, and HUD/FHA refunds.

  3. 3
    You see possible matches

Each match shows the state, who held the money, what kind of property it is, and an estimated value range.

  4. 4
You file directly with the state

We give you the exact form, document checklist, and per-state instructions. The state pays you. We never touch your money.

Where we make money

Filing your claim is always free. We make money in three places, all optional:

  • $9 deep search — adds the four big states (CA, NY, PA, DE) that aren't in MissingMoney.com plus federal databases (IRS, PBGC, Treasury, FDIC).
  • $29 claim help — for users with a confirmed match, we prepare the filing, document checklist, and walk you through notarization. Cheaper than the 10–25% finder fees other services charge.
  • Affiliate referrals — for complex claims (heir property, multi-state, high value), we refer to vetted, state-licensed recovery services. They pay us; you only pay them if you choose to use them.

Get notified when new property surfaces in your name

States escheat new property quarterly. Drop your email — we'll re-run your last search and email you only when something new appears. No spam, no upsells.
